Display Last Hits
The purpose of this page is to both familiarise you with a typical log display and the entries in them
as well as some of the additional functions that can be used.
After selecting the number of hits you wish to display (Last ?? Hits), Clicking on 'Display' will display
the latest hits to your site.
This is a typical log display entry.
Move your mouse over each item for an explaination of what the item means
To expand on what has generated this log entry I'll go through what has taken place.
A web surfer arrives at http://www.somewebsite.com/links.htm (and they don't have InterTracker installed)
On that site is a link to http://www.yourwebsite.net/index.htm
http://www.yourwebsite.net has InterTracker installed, so when the visitor arrives...
InterTracker checks to see if the visitor has a Visitor ID (ie has this visitor been to www.yourwebsite.com before?)
This is the very first visit by this web surfer, so InterTracker assigns them a Visitor ID (1062293818) and classes them as a New visitor
InterTracker also checks and records where the visitor came from (www.somewebsite.com/links.htm), the page that the visitor arrived
at (www.yourwebsite.net/index.htm) and the time of the visit.
Now lets have a look at the next log entry as well...
The first thing to remember is that displaying your log entries is done in reverse order. The reason for this is to
display the latest hit first. Prior hits are displayed in the order of when they arrived at your site.
So the latest hit is displayed first, the hit prior to the latest hit is displayed second and so on.
As you can see, the next log entry is from the same visitor (notice the Visitor ID).
There are a number of things to note. Firstly, notice that the first hit from the visitor is
below their second hit. This is because the second hit is the latest hit in your log. (Remember - The lastest hit is displayed first)
Also, you can see that the second hit from this visitor is no longer marked as New. This entry is classed as a Raw or Navigation hit.
The visitor has navigated (clicked on a link) from one page on yourwebsite.net to another.
To expand on what has generated this second hit I'll go through what has taken place.
The visitor has arrived at http://www.yourwebsite.net/index.htm (see above)
On that page is a link to http://www.yourwebsite.net/secondpage.htm
The visitor has clicked on that link and arrived at secondpage.htm
InterTracker has checked and identified the visitor as Visitor ID 1062293818, the time of his visit is updated,
the referring page and the current page are checked and recorded
